Senior Transportation and Rides (STAR)

The City of O’Fallon, in partnership with Aging Ahead, offers the Senior Transportation and Rides (STAR) Program. The goal of the program is to provide transportation services to a limited number of eligible O’Fallon residents. Transportation is provided by volunteers drivers who are screened and supervised by Aging Ahead.

The STAR Program is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of O’Fallon and the Beverly Foundation.

Important Information for Riders

What is the STAR Program?

The STAR Program provides transportation to medical services for elderly residents of St. Charles County who have no other means of transportation.

Where will the STAR Program take me?

Volunteers drive seniors to and from their appointments at hospitals, doctors offices and other medical facilities. (Trips for chemotherapy, radiation or dialysis, as well as shopping trips, are not included in the STAR Program.)

How do I arrange a trip with the STAR Program?

Passengers may schedule their trips with the STAR Coordinator at 636-978-3306.

How far ahead do I have to schedule?

Make your reservations at least three days in advance. Because reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, we encourage you to schedule early.

What if I have to cancel a reservation?

Except in an emergency, you must cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

Who is eligible for the STAR Program?

To be considered for the STAR Program, you must be:

  • Age 62 or older
  • Unable to drive or lack access to a vehicle
  • U.S. citizen or legal alien
  • Reside within St. Charles County

You must meet all of these requirements to use the STAR Program.

How much does a ride cost?

There is no charge, but donations are welcome. You may send your tax-deductible contribution directly to the STAR Coordinator.

How do I apply?

Call the program coordinator at 636-978-3306 to schedule an in-home assessment of your transportation needs. The program coordinator will complete your application for the STAR Program.
