O’FallonTheatreWorks awarded $10,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri’s Cultural Arts Division has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the City’s community theater program, O’FallonTheatreWorks.

“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support the diversity of excellent arts programs across the country, including organizations like O’FallonTheatreWorks, to make the arts accessible to O’Fallon, Missouri, residents, further enhancing the vitality of their community,” said NEA Chairperson Jane Chu.

Non-profits are invited to create unique holiday scenes for O’Fallon’s popular Celebration of Lights display

If your non-profit group or business is looking for an enjoyable fundraiser, the City of O’Fallon has openings for organizations to create unique holiday scenes as part of the annual Celebration of Lights display in Fort Zumwalt Park. The event opens Friday, November 24 (the day after Thanksgiving) at 6 p.m. and continues nightly (except on Christmas, December 25) through Saturday, December 30.

To participate, organizations must be 501c3 tax exempt, willing to create and maintain a unique, hand-crafted Christmas-themed exhibit at the Celebration of Lights display and help staff the gates 2-3 nights during the event. Participating groups also must have representatives present at the Old-Fashioned Holiday Stroll for pedestrians on December 11 and 12.

Bring your dog to Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center for the Pool Paws Dog Swim on September 9

Party with your dog and socialize with other dog owners at the “Pool Paws Dog Swim” on Saturday, September 9, at Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center, 403 Civic Park Drive (in Civic Park), O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. The event, which will be held from 9:30 –11:30 a.m., features raffles, games and prizes, and every dog gets a chance to win an attendance prize. Dogs will have a great time playing with the water spouts on the beach and paddling in the pool. Humans will not be swimming with their pets but they are welcome to wade up to their knees in the leisure pool.

The cost is $10 per dog, which includes one human and $3 for each additional person. Funds benefit the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation. Dogs must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) and have written proof of rabies vaccination.

O’Fallon’s Fall Fest on September 9th

Get a head start on fall festivities at O’Fallon’s Fall Fest on Saturday, September 9. Featuring lively bluegrass music, shopping at arts and crafts booths and free activities for families, the event will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in pretty Civic Park, 308 Civic Park Drive, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. Admission, parking, entertainment and kids’ activities are free.

The Fall Fest’s exciting lineup of acoustic bluegrass bands starts with the Moore Family Bluegrass Band, followed by The Bibb Family, harmonica champion Eric Thompson, National “Open” Fiddle Champion George Portz & the Friends of Bluegrass, Junior Fiddle Champion Deven Mahale, and Lit’l Miss Country, Ruby Pearson.

Alligator's Creek open, City Hall and the RSC closed on Labor Day

In observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 4, the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366, will be closed for the day. In addition:

The Renaud Spirit Center (RSC) also will be closed on Labor Day, and remain closed through Sunday, September 10, for annual building maintenance. The indoor recreation complex is located at 2650 Tri Sport Circle (63368).
