Training

The O'Fallon Police Department currently manages training for 105 full-time officers and approximately 30 civilian staff. The Training Section schedules all training and keeps training records on all department employees.

The State of Missouri requires that all officers receive a minimum of 48 hours of certified training every three years. In addition to meeting the state training requirements, officers and civilian staff attend numerous specialized courses and conferences throughout the year. The O'Fallon Police Department regularly sponsors training for other agencies. The Department has a fully-functional classroom facility for 40 students.

Fiscal Management and Police Supply

The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Chief of Police and serves as the Department liason to the City's Finance Department. All matters related to fiscal, budgeting and procurement are referred to the Administrative Assistant. This includes assisting in the development of the Police Department budget, maintaining the fund accounting for each division and procuring the supplies, uniforms, and equipment necessary for the civilian staff and officers.

Police Fleet

The O'Fallon Police Department fleet has 53 vehicles. The consists of patrol vehicles, unmarked cars, K-9 vehicles, Animal Control trucks, a prisoner transport van and a D.A.R.E. jeep.

The Department recently added two Harley Davidson motorcycles to the fleet to enhance the Department's subdivision patrols. Currently, the City staffs a Fleet Manager and a Ford and Harley Davidson Certifield Mechanic that handles the maintenance and non-rountine reparis of the vehicles.

Professional Standards

The O'Fallon Police Department is currently in the process of being certified by the Missouri Police Chiefs' Charitable Foundation (MPCCF). This is a function of the Professional Standards section with the Support Division.

The MPCCF Certification Program monitors every function within a police department (ex: command, fiscal management, patrol, criminal investigation, communications and personnel). The goal is to ensure that all of the department's policies and procedures are in compliance with the 200+ MPCCF standards.

The Departments goal is to be fully-certified by mid-2009. Once the Department is certified, the process starts over again. Law enforcement is constantly changing to meet the needs of citizens.
