O’Fallon, Missouri receives $10K for tree planting and education from the Missouri Department of Conservation

 The City of O’Fallon’s plan to buffer the impact of the tree-killing emerald ash borer just got a shot in the arm with a $10,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance (TRIM) grant program. O’Fallon was one of 42 cities to receive the grant, which O’Fallon has earmarked for education and tree planting.

“TRIM grants help recipients accomplish activities that keep their neighborhood trees healthy and thriving, including [taking] inventory, pruning, planting and educational programs,” said MDC Forestry Management Chief Justine Gartner. The grants offer cost-share funding for government agencies, public schools and nonprofit groups to manage, improve or conserve trees on public lands.

ALERT: Rainy weather causes flooding, multiple road closures in O'Fallon and surrounding areas

Updated at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015:

Open to traffic, Again

  • I-70 is open in both directions; however, the EB ramp at Salt Lick/Hwy. 79 is closed.
  • Hwy P at Dames Park/Park Ridge and Koch Road is open.
  • Hwy N at Wheatfield Farms is now open to traffic.
  • The RSC pool is open.
  • Celebrations of Lights is open to drive-through traffic on Tuesday night from 6–9 p.m.

Road Closures

  • Weldon Springs Road at Fieldstone Farms is closed. .

Other Important Information

  • The Wind Advisory from the National Weather Service ended at 3 p.m. on Monday.
  • The Flash Flood Watch was lifted at 3:27 p.m. on Monday.
  • Both the State of Missouri and St. Charles County have declared a State of Emergency for this area.
  • Please check with other municipalites, including St. Charles County, for flood information about areas beyond O'Fallon city limits.

Candidate filing opens December 15 for O’Fallon’s April 2016 municipal election

The first day of filing “Declarations of Candidacy” for the City of O’Fallon’s April 5, 2016, municipal election will open on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the West City Hall entrance, only, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the first day of filing. After that date, filing will be held in the City Clerk’s office on the third floor of City Hall. Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
