The National Council of Home Safety and Security this week published its “Safest Cities in Missouri” report which includes O’Fallon, Missouri, as 9th safest of Missouri’s cities with populations of more than 5,000. The average size of the cities the organization deemed safest is 26,562. With a population of 85,040, O’Fallon is easily the largest of the cities of the report’s top 10. Read the report here.

To identify Missouri’s safest cities, the council reviewed FBI Uniform Crime Report Statistics from 2016 along with the organization’s own population data and internal research. The cities’ rankings were then based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) per 100,000 people.
