Personalized brick pavers for O’Fallon’s new Justice Center are available for purchase

The City of O’Fallon invites members of the public who would like to show support for the O’Fallon Police Department to purchase a personalized brick paver for installation at O’Fallon’s new Justice Center. The Justice Center, which is on Bryan Road, is scheduled to open this fall.

Brick pavers measure 3-5/8” x 7-5/8” and cost $50 each. Only donors’ legal names will be inscribed on the pavers. Donors have three options to choose from for their inscription:

O’Fallon’s Rec-or-Treat Open House at the Renaud Spirit Center features Toy Story characters Woody and Jessie

Treat your family to an evening of free Halloween-themed fun, the RSC’s Rec-or-Treat Halloween Movie & Anniversary Party. The open house is set for 5-8 p.m. on Friday, October 13, at the Renaud Spirit Center (RSC). Celebrating its 13th year, the indoor recreation complex is located at 2650 Tri Sports Circle, O’Fallon, Missouri 63368. Kids are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume. Admission, parking and all activities are free. Pizza will be available for sale and the concession stand will be open.

Sign up for exciting trips to historic Hannibal and haunted St. Louis

Get out and about with day trips to interesting destinations, meet new friends or bring friends with you and leave the driving to the tour bus operator. On the day of departure, meet the motor coach in Civic Park, O’Fallon; parking is free. All trips include shopping opportunities and meals.

Mark Twain Tour – Travel to historic Hannibal, Missouri on the Mississippi River on Thursday, October 12, to see Mark Twain’s Boyhood Home and Museum, which includes eight buildings and two interactive museums. Mark Twain was the penname for Samuel Clemens, author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885). Then head to downtown Hannibal on the Mississippi River for a delicious lunch followed by a visit to the unique Hannibal History Museum on Main Street. The motor coach leaves at 8:30 a.m. and returns by 4:30 p.m. The trip’s cost of $80 for O’Fallon residents and $89 for non-residents includes deluxe motor coach transportation, admissions, lunch and gratuities. Be sure to register by the deadline, for the trip (430802-A), which is Thursday, September 28.

The City of O’Fallon – Government expands O’Fallon’s Facebook presence with a new Facebook site, Facebook.com/OFallonMO

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri, recently launched a new Facebook page, City of O’Fallon – Government (Facebook.com/OFallonMO). The new page joins O’Fallon’s other popular Facebook pages for the O’Fallon Police Department (@ofallonpolice) and the Visit O’Fallon (@visitofallon) Tourism page.

The City’s new government Facebook site will provide the latest City news, announcements and O’Fallon TV videos.

O’Fallon, MO, Makes Money Magazine’s List of America’s Top 100 Best Places to Live

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri, has been named one of the country’s “Best Places to Live,” according to Money magazine’s list of America’s 100 best cities. O’Fallon ranked 42nd on the 2017 list of cities with a population between 10,000-100,000.

O’Fallon’s ranking continues the stream of national accolades that have been bestowed on the City. In addition to Money’s previous rankings in 2006, 2008 and 2010, 2012 and 2014, O’Fallon was named as one of the best cities in Missouri to live by 247WallSt.com, one of the best places to find a job by nerdwallet.com, one of the best cities for veterans by Military Times and as one of the safest cities in America by CQ Press and the safest large City in Missouri (population 50,000+) by the SafeWise Report.

O’Fallon MO named 2017 City with the 9th Lowest Uninsured Rate by financial website WalletHub.com

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri, has been ranked ninth in the nation among cities with a population of under 100,000 for the lowest percentage of uninured residents by the financial website WalletHub.com.

To determine the rates of uninsured Americans, WalletHub analysts compared 547 U.S. cities and also all 50 states, with a breakdown by age, race/ethnicity and income level. The report determined that in uninsured residents, O’Fallon ranks 9th lowest overall in the nation and 7th lowest among small cities. Military Times ranks O’Fallon, Missouri, as 2nd on its list of 2017 Best Cities for Veterans to Live

Military Times named the City of O’Fallon, Missouri, as the second best city in the country for veterans. Military Times publishes monthly news magazines for U.S. military personnel and veterans.

O’Fallon placed second on the publication’s list of the “Top 50 Small Cities” nationwide. This is the third time that O’Fallon has been listed by Military Times as one of the best cities for veterans, and the City’s highest ranking to date.

Free home emergency and disaster preparedness training available through O’Fallon’s CERT class

Learn emergency and disaster preparedness skills, free at the O’Fallon Police Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program on September 22, 23 and 24. The course includes hands-on training in these topics, and more:

  • Assembling a disaster preparedness kit for home and car
  • Hands-on basic head-to-toe medical assessment, simple triage and rapid treatment techniques for airway obstruction, bleeding, shock, and basic first aid for injuries, burns, etc.
  • Learning when and how to shut off utilities at home
  • Working as a team to safely to conduct triage, light search and rescue, sizing up and extinguishing small fires, maintaining rescuer safety
  • Communicating effectively with public safety organizations during a disaster

The course is designed for individuals, couples, neighborhood association members, faith-based groups, businesses and employees, law enforcement candidates and those with medical training.

O’Fallon’s candlelight POW/MIA Ceremony recognizes American military personnel who remain missing in the field

On Friday, September 15, at 7 p.m., O’Fallon’s annual POW/MIA Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on behalf of the 82,500 American troops from foreign wars who remain as prisoners of war or unaccounted for, and the families who are waiting for their return. The ceremony will be held at O’Fallon Veterans Memorial Walk, 800 Veterans Memorial Parkway, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366.

Welcoming remarks will be delivered by O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy, and the keynote speaker will be Kaitlyn Bross, a senior at St. Dominic High School. The ceremony is hosted by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 458 and Am Vets Post 106, and includes posting of the colors, dressing of the table, candle lighting, the laying of the wreath, a rifle salute and "Taps." Music will be provided by the Living Word Christian School Band.

O’FallonTheatreWorks awarded $10,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts

The City of O’Fallon, Missouri’s Cultural Arts Division has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the City’s community theater program, O’FallonTheatreWorks.

“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support the diversity of excellent arts programs across the country, including organizations like O’FallonTheatreWorks, to make the arts accessible to O’Fallon, Missouri, residents, further enhancing the vitality of their community,” said NEA Chairperson Jane Chu.
