Q: |
Do I have to use the City-provided containers? |
A: |
Yes. The containers provided by the City are designed and manufactured to be compatible with the City’s state-of-the-art automated collection vehicles. Ordinary light light-weight containers will not withstand the demands of an automated system and the City cannot be responsible for any damaged caused to them. |
Q: |
Do I have to recycle? |
A: |
No, but your participation is critical to keeping our service costs low. Each ton of trash that goes to the landfill costs about $27. Each ton of material that is diverted to recycling nets $15.15 in revenue. That’s a swing of $42.15 per ton! As a municipal operation, the savings will benefit you by keeping the costs lower for Environmental Services in the future. |
Q: |
Do I have to pay the yard waste fee year-round? |
A: |
No. The service schedule is from 2nd Monday in March through 2nd Friday in December. You are not charged for the remainder of the year. However, once you elect this service a 9-month commitment is required. |

What does yard waste include? |
A: |
Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, limbs and branches (not to exceed 6 inches in diameter). Yard waste DOES NOT include dirt, sod, rock, concrete, asphalt, lumber, tree stumps or logs over 6 inches in diameter. |
Q: |
What type of container(s) do I use for yard waste? |
A: |
Use paper bags or your own personal container. The weight of either should not exceed 60 lbs. |
Q: |
How do I dispose of an old appliance? |
