Recent Commendations
We appreciate citizens taking the time to commend our Officers. Here are some recent officers who have received your praise!
Danielle Kehoe, Dispatch
To All,
I just wanted to Thank the O'Fallon Police Dept for helping my family find a lost pet. The owner was my father-in-law who is from Tennessee visiting over the past weekend. He was devastated when we found that the dog and torn thru a screen to get out of the house, after we had left to sight see. (The dog and its master are obsessed with each other)
This dog went missing on Saturday, and various people participated in the search. Most notable was the fact my in-laws are from Tennessee and are accustomed to neighbors helping out. What they didn't expect was the amount of people and officers who took time out to attempt to find this dog. When we posted fliers with a phone number, my father-in-law was skeptical at best that anyone would respond. There were numerous calls from very kind and compassionate people, to report they had in fact seen "Buck". There were people and kids who searched for hours to find this dog. In addition the O'Fallon dispatcher named Danielle called to get specifics on what kind of dog, what cars we were driving during our search so the Officers looking would know we were also looking.
My in-laws were amazed at the kindness of neighbors, strangers, O'Fallon Officers, and staff. They were overjoyed to hear "Buck the Rat Terrier" was fond on Monday afternoon after Danielle had called me to let me know a neighbor had spotted Buck in her back yard. Luckily I was in the immediate area searching, and was able to get there in a few minutes after receiving the call. Buck was shivering, scared, and apparently preparing for another long night, and wasn't very approachable. (I'm just as much a stranger to Buck than anyone) The elderly lady who reported Buck in her back yard then retrieved a blanket so I could capture Buck, and told me not to worry about the blanket. OF course I returned the blanket....but it was just another act of kindness that was completely unexpected, but very appreciated.
Buck was asleep in my arms before I drove less than a half mile towards home. Today Buck will be reunited with his "Papa", and both are sure to be ecstatic.
On behalf of "Buck the lost Rat Terrior"and my in-laws, I wanted to thank you!
Rob and Leah
