In an effort to reach those who need support from the community, O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Department is launching its 15th annual Cornucopia of Care food drive on November 9. Collection canisters located at various sites around the community are set to receive donations of non-perishable canned and boxed food and personal care items through Saturday, December 19.

“Increasingly, we find that many of those needing assistance today were the ones who donated to past food drives,” said Kathy Halstead, O’Fallon’s Manager of Volunteer Services. “Recent economic challenges require them to stretch their limited funds to pay utility bills, housing, transportation and medical needs. With less food donations coming in and more families in need, local food pantries may not have enough food, and so those families may go hungry.”

“We are fortunate to have a compassionate community which feels for their neighbors’ situation,” Halstead added. “They realize that their generosity may help put food on someone’s table during the holidays and beyond.”

Individuals, organizations and businesses are welcome to drop off donations of non-perishable canned and boxed food and personal care items during regular business hours at the following sites:
