Paddle for prizes in the Cardboard Boat Race at Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center

Whether you sink or float, you’ll have fun and a chance to win a prize, too, at the annual Cardboard Boat Race at Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center. 403 Civic Park Drive (in Civic Park), O’Fallon, Missouri 63366. The race will be held on Sunday, July 23, from 4 – 6 p.m.

To enter, make a cardboard-and-duct-tape vessel for a two-person crew. All ages are encouraged to team up for the race, including parents and kids. You don’t have to out-paddle the competition to win a prize. Besides the “Fastest Boat,” awards will be presented for the “Best-Decorated Boat” and the “Titanic Award.”

The entry fee is $12 for O’Fallon residents and $15 for non-residents. But hurry, the deadline to enter is Wednesday, July 19. For more information or to register for the race, call 636-272-1626 or 636-474-8130.

The Cardboard Boat Race is a highlight of “Shipwrecked Pirates Day” at the pool, with nautical and pirate-themed games and prizes from noon – 7 p.m. at no extra charge. Daily admission is $4 for children (3-18) and seniors (55+), and $5 for ages 19-54. Non-resident admission is $6 and $7. Passholders can get in free with their pool pass. Concessions are available for purchase at the pool.
