Mayor Bill Hennessy and O’Fallon City Administrator Bonnie Therrien announced the hiring of Patrick McKeehan as the City’s new Economic Development Director. McKeehan replaces Mike Hurlbert, who recently was appointed as Director of Community Development for St. Charles County.

McKeehan brings 30 years of economic development experience to O’Fallon with roles throughout the St. Louis Metro Area and Metro East. His experience includes leadership and consulting roles with the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois, St. Louis Regional Automotive Partnership/Ford Hazelwood Task Force, the St. Louis Regional Chamber, St. Louis County Economic Council and Missouri Department of Economic Development.

Since February 2013, McKeehan has served as the Director of the Metro East Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In that role, he was responsible for counseling and providing support services to entrepreneurs and local small business owners throughout Southwestern Illinois and organized the successful Metro East Start-Up Challenge. He also is the President of PMcK Consulting, LLC, an economic development consulting firm specializing in the impact of broadband deployment and services.

“Patrick will provide O’Fallon with a wealth of experience in economic development and will bring a strong background in both business recruitment and retention,” said Bonnie Therrien, O’Fallon City Administrator. “We believe Patrick’s experience in business development and expansion will be a tremendous asset to our community and our businesses. We went into this process hoping to find a candidate that not only had great experience, but who could bring new and fresh ideas to our economic development efforts. As we went through the interview process, it was clear that Patrick was the right person for this position.”

“I am excited by the opportunity to work on behalf of Mayor Hennessy and the City Council to build upon O’Fallon’s success,” said McKeehan. “As the home to more than 1,600 businesses, including large international corporations, local and national retailers, advanced manufacturers and top-notch restaurants, O’Fallon has developed a well-earned reputation as a fantastic place to do business. I look forward to working with the great teams at the City of O’Fallon and the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and Industries to continue enhancing O’Fallon’s business environment.”

McKeehan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and is a GrowthWheel Certified Business Advisor. He was designated a Certified Economic Developer by the International Economic Development Council in 1992. He will officially begin his tenure with O’Fallon on July 18, 2016.
